Tony Hawk has responded to fan requests for remasters of the Tony Hawk's Underground series, saying he will "campaign all he can" for the games.
The details:
Speaking with Screen Rant at a Pro Skater 3+4 preview event, the Birdman was asked about any future plans for remakes of other titles in the long-running skateboarding franchise, specifically the massively popular fifth installment, Underground. "I always have aspirations," Hawk said. "It's not up to me generally. I'll campaign all I can, but I'm working with a much bigger company that's a lot smarter than me."
Hawk went on to say that no discussions have taken place about any future games other than Pro Skater 3+4, which will be released in June after development was originally cancelled a few years ago. He went on to say that the commercial and critical success of Pro Skater 3+4 will most likely determine whether Underground receives a remake or remaster later down the line.
2003's Underground has become one of the most popular entries in the Tony Hawk franchise, and expands on the free-roaming gameplay of Pro Skater 4 with an actual storyline and a voiced player-made protagonist. Meanwhile, its sequel, Underground 2, takes a more comedic approach, with Hawk and Bam Margera leading two teams of skaters and performing ridiculous Jackass-inspired stunts with plenty of pop culture references from the early to mid 2000s.
