The Last of Us 2 Remastered's new roguelike mode will reportedly include at least 12 levels
A former Naughty Dog developer may have leaked that the upcoming “No Return” mode in The Last of Us 2’s remaster will have at least 12 maps based on story locations.
The details:
With the announcement of TLOU 2 Remastered, which will be released in January of next year, it was also revealed that a new roguelike survival mode titled "No Return" would be added, challenging players to fight off hordes of infected and human enemies as various characters.
So far, not much is known about the mode; however, a former Naughty Dog employee's LinkedIn profile (via @TheLastofUsNews) may have revealed that the mode will feature at least 12 different level layouts. It's unclear whether these layouts are simply variations of other existing levels or if they each feature a unique setting, but the trailer shows levels based on the base game's subway, arcade, and downtown areas.
In a blog post about the remaster, Sony confirmed that players will be able to choose from a variety of unique, unlockable characters, including Ellie, Joel, and others who will be playable for the first time in the series. Each mode's "run" will include stealth and combat segments, "unique twists that can add new, unexpected factors to any given encounter," and rewards after each area.
