Sonic X Shadow Generations announced for Autumn 2024

Sega has announced that a new version of 2011's Sonic Generations will include a new campaign featuring Shadow.

The details:

• The updated game was revealed at Sony's State of Play event, with a release window of Autumn 2024 for Nintendo Switch, PC, Xbox One and Series X/S, PS4 and 5.

• For the most part, the game remains the same, but it has been expanded with an entirely new campaign centered on antihero Shadow the Hedgehog and other bonus content. The Shadow levels are based on locations from Sonic Adventure 2 and his own game, with characters like Black Doom also appearing. This time, however, the use of guns appears to be absent.

• Sonic Generations was a surprisingly good title in the franchise's down years, featuring both 2D and 3D platforming gameplay based on the series' classic hits. This remaster appears to address some of its most glaring issues, including an improved frame rate and, hopefully, a much better PC port.
