Pokémon TCG Pocket reportedly surpasses $120 million in revenue
Just over two weeks after its launch, Pokémon TCG Pocket has reportedly generated over $120 million in earnings through in-app purchases.
The details:
As reported by PocketGamer, AppMagic data reveals the game has made $120.8 million as of November 17, with an average of more than $6 million spent per day since its October 30 launch. AppMagic also stated that its highest-earning day, November 15, saw a record $8.2 million spent on in-game purchases.
According to the data, Japan accounts for approximately 42% of spending, followed by the US with 28%. This is in line with reports of its first week performance, in which Japan contributed to 45% of in-game purchases despite accounting for just 4% of installs.
The game revolves around opening card packs and collecting cards to create a competitive Pokémon TCG deck. Players are only given two free packs per day, with a third available through the game's $10 pass. This leaves purchasing packs with real-world currency as the best way to find highly sought-after cards.
The Pokémon Company has announced that more content will be added to the game soon, including new booster packs by the end of the year and the ability to trade "certain cards," with the number of tradable cards being expanded at a later date.
