People Can Fly cancels AAA co-op RPG Project Dagger
Polish developer People Can Fly appears to have canceled its self-published AAA co-op action RPG, Project Dagger, earlier this month.
The details:
As spotted by X user @MauroNL, the company informed investors of the project's cancellation on April 5, after reevaluating the "scope and commercial potential" of the title. People Can Fly expects its end-of-year financial results to be reduced by approximately $16.9 million as a result of the decision.
Project Dagger, which was being led by Just Cause 3 director Roland Lesterlin, was originally set to be published by Take-Two Interactive before the publisher terminated its agreement in 2022. Despite this, People Can Fly’s New York studio continued to work on the title, with it expected to be self-published.
The developer also opened a studio in Montreal in July 2023 to contribute to the "highly ambitious, groundbreaking action-adventure” project, which had been in the works for years. The studio’s website stated that the game had at least 50 active developers and was said to be targeting a release within the next two years.
