Position Overview:
We are looking for an experienced VR Game Designer/Director to take charge of the creative direction and lead the development of groundbreaking VR experiences. In this role, you’ll be responsible for designing engaging gameplay mechanics, crafting community-focused features, and implementing F2P monetization strategies to maximize both player enjoyment and business potential.
You’ll work closely with cross-disciplinary teams to bring innovative ideas to life while ensuring smooth production from pre-production through live service. Key Responsibilities:
Lead creative direction for the VR game, setting the high-level vision and design goals.
Design and prototype core mechanics including player interactions, social features, and progression systems.
Develop F2P monetization strategies that align with the player experience, driving engagement and retention.
Collaborate with engineering, art, and UX teams to ensure a seamless fusion of gameplay, visuals, and user flow.
Build community-driven systems that encourage player collaboration, user-generated content (UGC), and social interaction.
Optimize onboarding, engagement loops, and retention strategies to enhance user experience and maximize LTV (Lifetime Value).
Lead playtesting and analyze player feedback to iterate and improve game features.
Stay ahead of industry trends in VR, F2P, and social gaming to keep the product competitive.
Develop progression systems, cosmetic stores, and event-based content to sustain long-term player interest.
Collaborate on the development roadmap, prioritizing features and content for future updates.
Work closely with community managers to engage with the player base, adapt to player trends, and refine the experience over time.
Qualifications:
5+ years of experience in game design, with at least 3 years in VR or immersive technologies.
Proven track record of shipping games with F2P elements, social features, or live-service components.
Expertise in VR mechanics, immersive UI/UX design, and understanding of player psychology.
Strong background in monetization, progression systems, and retention mechanics.
Experience with UGC platforms (e.g., Rec Room, VRChat, Roblox) and community-driven ecosystems.
Familiarity with development tools such as Unity, Unreal Engine, or other VR engines.
Leadership skills and experience guiding cross-functional teams throughout development.
Analytical mindset with expertise in balancing game economies and designing scalable systems.
Passion for crafting inclusive, social, and community-centered gaming experiences.
Nice to Have:
Experience developing VR multiplayer games.
Proficiency with data analytics tools to interpret player data and optimize design.
Experience with AI tools for content generation or design.
Background in live-service game design, with knowledge of event-based content cycles.
