Mortal Kombat 1’s Homelander will not be voiced by The Boys actor Antony Starr
Antony Starr, who plays Homelander in The Boys, has confirmed that he will not be voicing the character in Mortal Kombat 1, leaving fans wondering who will take over as the antagonist.
The details:
In response to a fan's question on Instagram (via Reddit), "Are you voicing Homelander in Mortal Kombat 1?" Starr simply replied, "Nope," which is surprising given that developer NetherRealm's version of Omni-Man is voiced by Invincible actor JK Simmons. It's also unclear who will fill the role of the DLC fighter.
This is not the first time an actor's likeness has been secured for a Mortal Kombat character but they do not voice the character, with MK11's Terminator being voiced by an Arnold Schwarzenegger sound-alike despite looking identical to the actor. Despite this, most characters, such as Sylvester Stallone as Rambo and Keith David as Spawn, are voiced and based on the original actors.
Aside from the rather disappointing news of Starr's absence, MK1 has been generally well-received in terms of gameplay and story, though it has been the subject of controversy due to the release of paid fatalities, huge crash logs, and the bug-ridden Switch launch.
