Little Nightmares 3 is finally in the works, according to Bandai Namco, though its original developer will not be returning.
The details:
- A reveal trailer for the game was shown off at Gamescom Opening Night Live, introducing fans to new characters Low and Alone, and it has been confirmed that those who have not played previous entries will be able to jump in as the game features an entirely new story.
- The game will feature the same light puzzle gameplay as its predecessors, but it will be the first in the series to feature full-fledged co-op, with players having the option of playing through the game with an AI-controlled companion or with a friend online.
- Tarsier Studios, the original developer of the first two games, was acquired by Embracer Group in 2019 and announced in 2021 that it would no longer be working on the series. Supermassive Games, which previously worked on the enhanced version of Little Nightmares 2 and is best known for its story-driven titles Until Dawn, The Dark Pictures Anthology, and The Quarry, has now been tasked with creating a third game for Bandai Namco.
- Little Nightmares 3 will be available on last and current-generation consoles, as well as the Nintendo Switch and PC. The only thing we know about its release date is that it will be sometime in 2024.
More gaming news:
- A Grand Theft Auto V mod that allowed players to speak with NPCs using AI technology has reportedly been taken down by Take-Two Interactive, despite the mod being free and open source. The mod's author has claimed that their showcase video has also been hit with a copyright claim from the publisher.
- The Xbox 360's online store will close on July 29, 2024, which means that players will no longer be able to purchase content through the console or its website. However, previously purchased content can still be re-downloaded, and films and TV shows can be viewed on the Xbox One, Series X/S, and PC via the Movies & TV app.
