Game Informer returns with original staff, Off the Grid developer acquires publication

It has been announced that long-running gaming publication Game Informer will relaunch less than a year after being shut down by Gamestop, with Off the Grid developer Gunzilla Games acquiring the rights and reuniting the original team.
The details:
Game Informer Editor-In-Chief Matt Miller confirmed in a post to its website that Gunzilla had acquired the rights to the publication, and that the magazine would be revived in both digital and print formats. With the revival, the publication will operate under Game Informer Inc. and will remain an "independent editorial outlet."
Not only has Game Informer returned, but so have all of the previously written articles that were made unavailable to the public when it closed, resulting in years of lost content. Miller also stated that the "entire" team working at the magazine is involved in the revival, "from editorial to production and beyond."
Previous owner GameStop announced in August 2024 that it would close Game Informer after 33 years, following a wave of layoffs two years earlier. The decision was heavily criticized, including by former employees, who launched preservation efforts to locate over ten years of content not only for public viewing, but also for those directly affected by the closure to use in their resumes to find new work.
New owner Gunzilla Games is best known for developing and publishing Off the Grid, a free-to-play battle royale title, and the blockchain platform GunZ. Neill Blomkamp, the director of District 9 and Chappie, also serves as the company's "chief visionary officer" and co-founder.
