EA reportedly considering an Apex Legends subscription service
A recent survey revealed that EA and Respawn may be considering adding a monthly subscription service to Apex Legends, similar to Fortnite's Fortnite Crew.
The details:
As reported by Insider Gaming, some players have received a new survey from EA, asking if they would be interested in a "monthly subscription" for Apex Legends. The publisher stated that the subscription would include monthly rewards such as in-game currency, battle pass tiers, and other items.
The proposed subscription sounds similar to Fortnite Crew, which Epic added to Fortnite in November 2020. The service costs $11.99 per month and gives players access to the season's current Battle Pass, exclusive cosmetics, and 1,000 V-bucks, which is an attractive deal for those who are heavily invested in the game.
While EA has yet to announce any type of subscription, it would not be surprising if another form of monetization is added to Apex in the future. Last month, CEO Andrew Wilson confirmed that Respawn does not intend to create a "2.0" version of the game, but that a "large systematic change" will be required to keep players engaged after its controversial battle pass changes failed to boost revenue.
