Dragon's Dogma 2 met with mixed reviews due to its microtransactions
Capcom's Dragon's Dogma 2 has finally been released, and while many people have been diving into the RPG, others are upset about the high number of microtransactions in the single-player game.
The details:
On Steam, Dragonโs Dogma 2 currently sits at a โmixedโ review score, with only 40% of the reviews being positive. Many of the criticisms leveled at the game appear to be directed at Capcom's implementation of microtransactions, which include special items, in-game currency, and even the one-time ability to customize a character for a couple of dollars. "Hey Capcom, you can purchase a 'good review DLC' for $1.99," one reviewer wrote.
This is not the first time Capcom has included microtransactions in its single-player titles, as Devil May Cry 5 allows players to purchase orbs to level up and buy items, and Resident Evil 4's remake offers "exclusive upgrade tickets" that allow weapons to become overpowered variants.
Other negative reviews for Dragon's Dogma 2 focus on its technical issues, with players reporting crashes and low frame rates on high-end hardware. The publisher has acknowledged these issues and stated that it will look for solutions to the problems, which also affect the console releases.
