10 Chambers, the Sweden-based studio behind GTFO and the upcoming heist FPS Den of Wolves, has announced a major restructuring resulting in a wave of layoffs affecting all areas, including some of its co-founders.

The details:

  • In a new statement, the studio confirmed that a “large number” of employees have been let go, including some of its longest-standing staff. "We can confirm that we're taking a hard look at how we work and how the studio is set up, so Den of Wolves can become the game it deserves to be,” a spokesperson said. “This unfortunately means a significant restructuring of the studio, impacting a large number of roles, including several of the studio's co-founders," the studio stated. We recognize these changes are difficult, and we're approaching them thoughtfully. Out of respect for everyone involved, we won't comment on individual situations.”
  • Despite the major cuts, 10 Chambers has confirmed that Den of Wolves has not been cancelled and that former Payday leads Ulf Andersson and Simon Viklund “remain fully committed to the game.” The title still lacks a release date, but new details were revealed as recently as December.
  • It’s unknown how many of the studio’s original nine employees have been affected by the cuts, but the announcement follows the departure of co-founder and chief development officer, Hjalmar Vikström, who just hours earlier stated that he would leave 10 Chambers to create “way smaller games” as an indie developer. However, based on several LinkedIn posts, the layoffs have impacted several senior-level roles across the developer’s programming, animation, and art teams.
