CS:GO has peaked at one million concurrent players every month for an entire year

As the full release of Counter-Strike 2 approaches, Valve's iconic tactical shooter Counter-Strike: Global Offensive has successfully peaked above one million concurrent players each month for an entire year.

The details:

• As spotted by Insider Gaming, Steam Charts reports that since September 2022, despite the game being over a decade old, CS:GO's concurrent player count has peaked above one million at least once a month.
• Aside from being the biggest tactical shooter on the market, rivaled only by Riot's VALORANT, its sequel, CS2, was announced earlier this year after years of rumors, causing the player count to spike around May. Many of those players flocked to the title to get back into the swing of things in time for the new release, while others attempted to secure a beta invite to CS2, despite Valve later revealing that this was not how participants were chosen.
• It's unclear how long the record will last, as Valve has expanded the limited test for CS2 to include even more players. Given the slight drop in players in the first few days of September, the release of CS2 will most likely be the end of the one-million-player run.
