CD Projekt Red is releasing a mod editor for The Witcher 3
CD Projekt Red has announced that official mod tools for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will be released next year for the PC version of the game.
The details:
The editor's development was announced via X, with the studio stating that players will be able to create new experiences by creating "something completely new or editing existing quests and content." The mod editor will be available exclusively on PC next year and will be free for all game owners.
As expected, fan reaction has been overwhelmingly positive, with many hoping for the same level of modded content that Bethesda's RPGs have received for decades, such as AAA-quality quests, gear, and locations that will add hours of extra play time to the beloved title. Some anticipate more unusual mods, such as Roach the horse being transformed into a fish.
Together with Cyberpunk 2077, The Witcher 3 has remained one of CD Projekt's most popular releases, bringing the franchise to the mainstream. The original Witcher novels have also been adapted into a Netflix series, and a new animated film, The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep, will be released "late" next year.
More gaming news:
Cities: Skylines 2βs mod tools will be available in a "couple of months," according to Colossal Order. When it is released, the editor will also be barebones, with the developer gradually adding more features.
DayZ set a new all-time high for concurrent players over the weekend, with just under 70,000 on Sunday. The game's most recent update introduced several notable changes and overhauled the map's skyboxes.
