A notable insider has claimed that Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 will not be available on the Nintendo Switch 2 at launch despite Microsoft’s deal to bring the FPS franchise to the platform.

The details:

  • According to Dealabs writer and respected leaker billbil-kun, Black Ops 7 will not be available on the Switch 2 at launch. The game is expected to be released on November 14 for both last- and current-generation consoles, but the lack of a Switch 2 port at launch does not rule out a future release.
  • Given that the FPS will still be available on the soon-to-be 12-year-old Xbox One and PS4, it is assumed that the lack of a version for Nintendo's new system is due to time constraints. Since the Switch 2 was only released two months ago, it's possible that porting the title to the platform and optimizing it for both handheld and docked gaming will take longer than expected.
  • As part of its efforts to appease regulators regarding its proposed acquisition of Activision Blizzard, Microsoft announced in 2023 that it had struck a "legally binding" deal with Nintendo to bring Call of Duty to its consoles for a decade. The agreement stated that CoD titles would be released "with full feature and content parity" on the same day as Xbox, marking the franchise's first appearance on a Nintendo platform since 2013.
