Battlestate Games is opening its new publishing arm to ambitious, niche and unconventional projects, giving smaller teams a route to funding, resources and a wider audience.
The Escape from Tarkov developer says Battlestate Games Publishing is accepting pitches at every stage of development, with the company looking for ideas that other publishers may consider too risky.
What developers need to know
- Battlestate Games announced the publishing division in September, offering support for third-party projects while partnered studios retain ownership of their intellectual property.
- The company says it is open to projects across genres, platforms and development stages, with submissions invited through its official announcement.
- COO Nikita Buyanov told GameDeveloper that the arm has received more than 100 pitches, including around five to ten games it considers potentially suitable.
- Buyanov described the initiative as an experiment rather than a large publishing business, with support intended for small, indie and niche teams.
- The model adds to a wider industry trend of established studios using their audience, experience and commercial resources to back new developers and higher-risk ideas.
“Some risky ideas with risky implementation—some prototypes even—are going to have something in there, like the scent of greatness,” Buyanov told GameDeveloper.
