About WishWish
WishWish is a Series A startup building the leading gamified blind box collecting platform for 3D digital collectibles, backed by leading crypto VCs. Think Pokemon TCG Pocket β but built for independent artists and the collectors who love them. Our core experience is the unboxing moment: a fluid, satisfying sequence from selecting your box all the way through the 3D collectible reveal.
We're a small, fast-moving team and this role sits at the heart of our product.
The Role
We have a working unboxing animation β and now we want to make it extraordinary. We're looking for a Technical Artist who can take our existing Unity unboxing experience to the next level through VFX, shader, and lighting work, while also owning the weekly production of 3D collectible characters for our artist drops.
This is a rare full-stack creative-technical role. You'll work directly with our Unity engineer and 3D animator to push the visual quality of our core product experience β and simultaneously handle the ongoing 3D character pipeline that keeps our weekly drops running.
What You'll Do
Unboxing Animation β Enhancement & Iteration
- Take our existing Unity unboxing sequence and elevate the overall visual quality
- Own VFX: redesign and improve particle systems, energy bursts, impact moments, and reveal effects using Unity Particle System and VFX Graph
- Develop and refine custom shaders in Shader Graph: foil/holographic effects, dissolve transitions, rarity-tiered visual language (common β rare β legendary)
- Improve real-time lighting and post-processing (Bloom, HDR, color grading) via Unity URP to make the reveal moment feel cinematic
- Ensure all enhancements are mobile-optimized for iOS performance
- Maintain the modular asset system so each artist's IP and series can have its own look
Weekly 3D Character Production
- Model, rig, and animate one 3D collectible character per week for our artist drop schedule
- Work with artist briefs and IP guidelines to faithfully translate 2D concepts into game-ready 3D assets
- Ensure all characters are optimized for real-time mobile rendering (poly count, texture size, draw calls)
- Maintain a clean, consistent asset pipeline so characters can be swapped into the unboxing system seamlessly
Ongoing
- Collaborate closely with our Unity engineer and 3D animator to keep the pipeline smooth
- Maintain and improve the modular asset system as the platform scales to more artists and series
- Help establish art and technical standards for future hires or contractors
What We're Looking For
Must-Have
- 3+ years of experience as a Technical Artist or similar role in game development
- Strong Unity proficiency β URP pipeline, Particle System, VFX Graph, Shader Graph, Timeline
- Solid 3D modeling and character animation skills (Blender or Maya)
- Experience rigging and animating props and characters for real-time engines
- Demonstrated ability to create high-quality VFX for mobile games (iOS/Android)
- Portfolio showing real-time VFX work β particle effects, shaders, reveal or opening sequences
- Comfortable working at production pace β weekly asset delivery
Nice-to-Have
- Experience enhancing or iterating on existing game systems (not just greenfield builds)
- Familiarity with gacha, TCG, or collectible game VFX
- Experience with Houdini for texture/VFX generation
- Knowledge of Substance Painter for PBR texturing
- iOS optimization experience (draw call budgeting, memory management)
You'll Thrive Here If
- You get excited about taking something good and making it feel exceptional
- You have strong opinions about what makes VFX and lighting feel premium vs. flat
- You've shipped real-time VFX on mobile and know what "optimized" actually means
- You can work independently and manage a weekly production cadence
- You're excited by the intersection of art culture, collectibles, and interactive design
What We Offer
- Competitive salary + equity
- Fully remote, async-friendly culture
- Direct impact β you're building the core experience of the product
- Work with independent artists and their IP from day one
- Fast-moving team, no bureaucracy
