Starfish Studios
Job Description
Get paid to break things on purpose. As a QA Analyst at Starfish Studios, you'll make sure our Minecraft products are solid before they reach thousands of players β because in our experience, they will let us know if something's broken.
You'll own test coverage across features, flag issues early, and work directly with developers, artists and producers to ship with confidence. This isn't just "play the game and report bugs." We need someone who can think systematically about what could go wrong, build the processes to catch it, and help the team move faster by catching problems before they compound.
What You'll Do
Design and maintain test cases based on feature requirements and specs
Build and refine QA workflows, checklists, and standards for the team to follow
Run functional, regression, and exploratory testing across active projects
Map test coverage to requirements so nothing slips through
Write detailed, reproducible bug reports and own them through resolution
Help prioritize defects based on severity and player impact
Work closely with developers, artists, and producers to identify, reproduce, and document issues β assessing impact clearly and accurately
Represent QA in production meetings, reviews, and retros
Support and guide junior testers as the team scales
Contribute to ongoing gameplay improvements and share feedback to enhance the overall player experience
What We're Looking For
1-3 years of hands-on QA experience in software, games, or digital products
Experience designing and implementing QA processes, workflows, or testing frameworks
Strong grasp of testing fundamentals β regression, smoke, exploratory, edge case thinking
Track record of writing clear bug reports that developers can actually act on
Experience with issue tracking tools (JIRA, Linear, Notion, or similar)
Familiarity with version management (Git)
Clear communicator who can bridge the gap between technical and non-technical teammates
A curious mindset and a willingness to continually learn, adapt, and break things
Familiar with Minecraft and its community β bonus if you've been part of creating content for the game (maps, mods, add-ons, servers, etc.)
Proficient in written and spoken English
Must be 18+
30-40 hours per week commitment
Nice to Have
Deep knowledge of Minecraft Bedrock, Add-Ons, or Marketplace products specifically
Prior QA experience is preferred, especially with Minecraft
Experience engaging and interacting with a community base
Experience working with live service products or games
What We Offer

Competitive pay ($20-30/hr) with room to grow
