The Client UI and Ecosystem Engineering team is responsible for building out the core streaming experience as well as new experiences like games and Ads. CUE is also the team responsible for the video player infrastructure, the TV and games SDKs as well as the tools to monitor in-field performance of thousands of device types.
As Netflix continues to expand into Gaming, we have a very exciting opportunity to expand and improve the member experience. As the Director of Engineering for Games, you will drive the engineering systems to deliver those experiences. Leading an engineering organization and partnering with other senior leaders across Netflix, you will drive the technical success of the games business starting with the game developer experience and following all the way through to our members finding joy in playing Netflix games.
Responsibilities
Build, maintain, and operate the engineering systems which will allow Netflix subscribers to discover and play games including the SDKs for the game developers
Bring innovative ideas and big-picture thinking to the table, to drive continuous improvements for customers.
Partner with Product Management and Games Studios to set the vision and roadmap for the team.
Manage a large, technical team, fostering a culture of continuous engineering improvement through mentoring, feedback, and metrics.
Partner with other senior leaders across Netflix to achieve the ambitious goals of the gaming business.
Engage with a diverse customer base to understand requirements, priorities, and processes.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field
13+ years of professional experience developing software for managing large scale customer relationships, support, and risk operations.
Expertise building game platforms/SDKs
Experience with backend systems, mobile development, recommendations systems and personalization, and developing software at a global scale
8+ years of experience building and leading large technical organizations; a passion for people management and mentorship
Exceptional project planning skills including estimating, scheduling, and executing on committed schedules.
Passion for the consumer experience
Ability to handle multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.

The overall market range for this role is typically $330,000 - $1,800,000
This market range is based on total compensation (vs. only base salary), which is in line with our compensation philosophy. Netflix is a unique culture and environment.
