ACI Participant (Full Time) - HICON Games LLC, Video Game Writer

HICON Games is a Hawaii based, video game development company set out to create video games for people in Hawai'i and beyond. "Huli," a milk cap mobile game, is the first of many video games that HICON developed. Our next project will be a story driven game infused with Hawaiian mythology, characters, and locations. HICON Games is looking for a highly-skilled Video Game Writer to join our team! Our ideal candidate is passionate about action-adventure games and experienced in creating a world for our video games, characters, stories, dialogue, events, and more through their expert writing and game design skills. Duties include

Working with the HICON team to develop interesting story arcs, settings, characters, and cinematics
Create appropriate theming for major game systems
Write high-quality storylines with interesting characters, text, and dialogue
Write in-game instructions, tooltips, lore summaries and backgrounds
Write to the authenticity of Hawaiian culture while creating original storylines for HICON Games
Maintain and create documentation for characters and lore
Support the team by reviewing and providing detailed feedback on in-game content
Write dialogue for heroes and NPCs
Perform editing tasks as needed
Create and write promotional materials for marketing needs of HICON Games

Minimum Qualifications

3+ years Narrative Design and Game Writing experience, or equivalent.
Experience scripting dialogue for large casts of original and canon characters.
Experience structuring and tracking multiple branching storylines.
A strong understanding of Unreal 4 including blueprints scripting and sequencer.
Ability to efficiently juggle multiple responsibilities without compromising creative quality.
Exceptional proofreading and copyediting skills.
Solid work ethic and ability to act independently on writing tasks
Outstanding written and interpersonal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

A strong passion for developing and playing games.
Experience in film, theater, or television narrative and script writing.
Experience in working with voice actors and voice directors to help bring the most to a character’s voice and performance.
Successfully published writing work (novels, short fiction, film, television, comics)
Experience developing multiplayer open-world games or MMO experiences
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
