What does the Frostbite team do?

Frostbite is EA's state-of-the-art, multi-platform game development engine. We empower creators to shape the future of gaming and we achieve this by developing the latest engine features and tools. Our accomplished team from across the globe is dedicated to building creative technology and working with each other to ship amazing games. Frostbite powers some of the most stunning games in the industry along with deep player experiences.

What We Do

The Frostbite Characters team is empowering content creators to build the highest quality characters in the most rewarding environment, on our proprietary Frostbite game engine. The technologies we build include a new character customization system, state-of-the-art mesh deformation technologies, and a new set of tools to produce next-gen facial rigs.

Reporting to a Senior Manager of Engineering, You will…

  • Help develop workflows to improve the efficiency of character artists.

  • Contribute to important programs across the company, using Frostbite tech to help individual gameteam reach our goals.

  • Work with Frostbite engineers and EA content creators to ensure the tools we build have high usability standards.

  • Be a leader in the technical art community at EA, helping set standards and propose ideas to the product team.

  • Help produce demo material to showcase our latest developments.

Your qualifications

  • 5+ years of games/cinematics production experience. You have completed more than 2 AAA games or movies.

  • Experience working with rigging, character FX or lighting artists and software engineers within games or film.

  • Proficient scripting/programming in python and C#. (C++ is a bonus, but is not required).

  • Experience building content with at least one commercial (Unreal Engine, Unity) or proprietary game engine.

  • Experience with 2D and 3D art packages: Maya needed.

  • A willingness to jump into the unknown and solve new problems; to resolve technical challenges and limitations.

  • You are passionate about content creation!


  • Experience with Houdini/Substance Designer

  • A bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in a related field
