Secluded Orchid is an Unreal Engine 5 photogrammetry tech demo crafted by FYQD Studio. This project materialized over 15 days, driven by approximately 2 hours of photography and the acquisition of 5000 8K images. These images served as the foundation for high-quality 3D models meticulously integrated into Unreal Engine 5.

Notably, this endeavor marked FYQD Studio's inaugural foray into motion capture, employing an inertial sensor system that, while enhancing efficiency compared to manual keyframe animation, left room for improvement in terms of accuracy. The development process was further facilitated by leveraging readily available assets for character models, props, and sound elements, enabling the team to focus on crafting immersive gameplay experiences.

To create Secluded Orchid, the development team used a Sony A7M4 camera with a 35mm focal length to capture over 5000 photos during a 2-hour session. RealityCapture was employed to align the images and generate a 15-million-polygon model. The resulting model was divided into 4 to 6 parts and seamlessly integrated into Unreal Engine 5. This process's efficiency depended on the CPU's computing speed, with a powerful AMD Ryzen 9 3970X chosen for computation.

The character's assets, including Metahuman arms and body, as well as various props like lighters, iPhones, masks, photos, and trees, were sourced from 3D model websites, minimizing the time spent on 3D model creation. Motion capture was conducted swiftly, taking just 20 minutes using ROKOKO equipment. Subsequent refinement of finger joint animations was carried out using MotionBuilder.
