Sea of Thieves could be getting a PlayStation and Nintendo Switch release
It has been reported that Microsoft is considering bringing Rare's pirate adventure Sea of Thieves to rival platforms in 2024.
The details:
In a recent episode of the Game Mess podcast, Giant Bomb's Jeff Grubb claimed that Microsoft was considering potential PlayStation and Switch versions of Sea of Thieves. Game File journalist Stephen Totilo made a similar claim in a recent report, though he clarified that his source only mentioned a PlayStation release.
It has also been reported that Microsoft is intending to bring another exclusive, Tango Gameworks’ Hi-Fi Rush, to the Switch this year. It was also stated that the company plans on bringing its back catalog to more platforms sooner than later, with Totilo adding that Sea of Thieves may be arriving in “early 2024.”
Given that Rare has enlisted the assistance of Lucid Games to continue supporting Sea of Thieves while working on Everwild, bringing it to other platforms may breathe new life into the multiplayer title. It's also highly likely that the releases will include crossplay for all three consoles, PC, and Game Pass.
