New French indie studio FlyingBird showcases drone simulation game made in Unreal Engine 5
FlyingBird Studio, co-founded by 3D artist/game developer Alexandre Martin and 3D environment artist Benoit Bellard in France, has released a full real-time demo of their latest project, an unnamed drone flying game, developed using Unreal Engine 5.
The game, currently at an early stage, offers players a drone simulation experience within a variety of closed environments.
So far, the duo has completed four distinct maps for the game, including a garage, a station, a quarry, and a hospital, with plans to develop additional maps and features.
Inspired by the functionalities of a DJI drone, this game not only provides an immersive gaming experience but also serves as a realistic drone simulation.
Based in Lyon, Martin, together with Clermont-Ferrand-based Bellard, has crafted this game to offer both first-person immersive and third-person rear-view flying experiences, complete with a modified HUD.
The game's current objective is for players to collect points within a limited time to progress through the maps. This project showcases the duo's capability to blend simple gameplay mechanics with intricate simulation aspects.
Utilizing a suite of powerful software tools such as 3ds Max, ZBrush, Blender, Substance 3D Painter, Substance 3D Designer, Substance 3D Stager, Marmoset Toolbag, Photoshop, Premiere, and Quixel Megascans, the team has achieved high levels of detail and realism in the game's environments and drone models.
As they continue to develop the game alongside their regular work, Martin and Bellard are exploring various avenues for its future development and distribution.
Their dedication to refining the game is evident in the daily progress they make. With Unreal Engine 5 at their disposal, the pair have managed to create an engaging and visually stunning drone simulation game that promises to offer a unique and challenging experience for players.
