Mortal Kombat 1 has been announced for September 19

After multiple teasers, NetherRealm has officially confirmed that the next Mortal Kombat title will be called "Mortal Kombat 1" and will arrive this September.

The details:

• NetherRealm Studios has released an announcement trailer for Mortal Kombat 11, confirming rumors that the game would serve as a franchise reboot, with the events of Mortal Kombat 11's DLC leading to a "reborn" universe.
• Many classic Mortal Kombat characters appear in the game, including Sub-Zero, Scorpion, Raiden, Mileena, and Liu Kang, who is responsible for the rebooted world himself. Johnny Cage will also appear, with the "Kombat Pack" DLC providing him with a new skin that resembles his original inspiration, famous actor and martial artist Jean-Claude Van Damme.
• It will also feature "Kameo fighters," who will aid the player during matches with the goal of "creating expanded gameplay possibilities." These are chosen separately, but there is currently no information on who is included in this unique roster.
• On September 19, 2023, it will be released for PC, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox Series X/S. This time, last-generation PS4 and Xbox One versions are out of the question. Anyone who pre-orders the game will be able to participate in its beta in August, and those who buy the Premium or Kollector's editions will be able to play it on September 14. Players will also be able to play as series villain Shang Tsung, which seems appropriate given his role as the original game's final boss.
