Leaked GTA V database file mentions scrapped single-player DLC plans and Bully 2
A program database file (PDB) for Grand Theft Auto V has reportedly leaked online and contains mentions of not only scrapped DLC for its story mode but also a sequel to Bully.
The details:
The leaked PDB file contains debug information that debugger software can use, but fans have begun searching its contents for traces of Rockstar's scrapped concepts for GTA V and other titles. It’s currently unknown how the file made its way online or even how old it is.
Originally shared by X user @billsyliamgta, it was discovered that the database contains text strings mentioning GTA 4 and 5, Midnight Club Los Angeles, Red Dead Redemption 2, and, most notably, Bully 2. It also mentions one of GTA V's three protagonists, Trevor, having a jetpack, which is thought to be proof that what was originally planned as story mode DLC was later reworked into GTA Online missions.
Bully 2 was reportedly in development at Rockstar New England in the early 2010s before it "fizzled out" after about a year and a half. The game's script was apparently written in 2008, implying that the company had originally planned to follow up the cult classic title as soon as possible, though it was never officially announced.
There are also numerous references in the PDB to the canceled Cops 'n' Crooks mode for GTA V, which would have returned from GTA 4 with a number of changes including different roles, new weapons, and an XP system. The mode was reportedly dropped around the time of the 2020 Black Lives Matter protests.
