After laying off half of its workforce last year, League of Geeks, the studio behind Jumplight Odyssey and Solium Infernum, has announced it will go into "hibernation for the foreseeable future."

The details:

  • In December 2023, the developer confirmed that it would lay off approximately 50% of its workforce, affecting its development, operations, and publishing teams. The studio claimed that poor sales, rising costs, and a failure to secure funding would leave it unable to pay its operating costs beyond Q2 2024, forcing it to cease Jumplight Odyssey's development indefinitely.

  • In a post on the studio's website, co-founders Ty Carey, Blake Mizzi, and Trent Kusters shared an update on its future, stating that the "economic situation in games being what it is right now, we have made the decision to put LoG into hibernation for the foreseeable future and take some extended time off." The founders also confirmed that those who previously worked for League of Geeks have either found new jobs elsewhere or are taking a break.

  • All of the developer's games will remain available, but development on Jumplight Odyssey will be suspended indefinitely, though the team hopes to bring it out of early access within the next year. Active development on Solium Infernum will also end, but players can expect "a lil update or two" with minor content additions and bug fixes.
