Discord has revealed what will be added to Xbox consoles in the next update, including highly requested features that will bring the system in line with other platforms.

The details:

  • In a new press release, the chat platform confirmed that players will soon be able to watch streams from other users broadcast in a server's voice channel, regardless of platform. Friends who are streaming or participating in a voice chat will be listed in the "Happening Now" tab next to the friend list, providing quick access to the server they’re using.

  • Currently, users can only voice chat within server channels, but the update will intoduce the popular call feature, which allows for direct conversations with others via the friends list. Discord will also show more information than before, including a user's gamertag, mutual servers, and friends.

  • The majority of players worldwide will receive the update in the coming weeks, while Xbox Insiders began receiving access shortly after Discord's announcement.
