Bungie has confirmed it will host a free “Server Slam” open preview weekend for its upcoming extraction shooter Marathon later this month, giving players on console and PC a chance to test the game ahead of its release in early March and unlock rewards that carry over to launch.

The details:

  • As announced during PlayStation’s State of Play, the Marathon Server Slam will run from February 26 to March 2, just days before the game’s full launch on March 5. The event will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, with full cross-play and cross-save support. No sign-up is required, though console players will still require an active membership for their respective platform.
  • Players will have the opportunity to explore two zones on Tau Ceti IV, Perimeter and Dire Marsh, while completing the first set of contracts for five of the in-game factions. The preview will also include all of the game’s runner shells, solo queue, proximity chat, and other features coming to the full release.
  • Those who participate in the test will unlock several rewards that carry over to the full game, including unique cosmetics for completing missions, loot packages, and more. For PlayStation Plus subscribers, weapon charms based on Helldivers 2, Death Stranding, and Ghost of Yotei will also be available at launch.
