Baldur's Gate 3 is still targeting a 2023 release on Xbox
After resolving technical issues, Larian Studios has confirmed that it still intends to release its massively popular RPG Baldur's Gate 3 on Xbox before the end of 2023.
The details:
While RPG fans have been able to delve into one of the best releases in recent history on PC and PlayStation 5 since August and September, respectively, Xbox players have been waiting for an update on its upcoming release. Fortunately, Larian CEO Swen Vincke has provided an update, confirming that the game is now being tested on the platform and that it is still scheduled for release before the end of the year.
The Xbox release of the game encountered some technical issues during development due to the misconception that Microsoft required games to support the same modes on Xbox Series X and the weaker Series S consoles. This resulted in Larian struggling to get the local multiplayer mode to work on less powerful hardware until Microsoft allowed the developer to disable split-screen on the Series S while retaining all other features months later.
Baldur's Gate 3 was an unexpected hit in the industry, with its Dungeons and Dragons-inspired tabletop role-playing systems, visuals, and narrative earning it near-perfect scores from most major outlets and acclaim from both new and returning fans.
