Assassin's Creed Shadows is reportedly receiving a co-op mode
Following the game's recent delay, it has been claimed that a co-op mode for Assassin's Creed Shadows is in the works, though the mode is not the reason for the title's launch date being pushed back to 2025.
The details:
According to Insider Gaming, sources claim that the co-op mode, known as "LEAGUE," was in development long before the delay and is intended to be post-launch content. It's unclear how the mode will work, but given the game's dual protagonists, shinobi Naoe and samurai Yasuke, it's likely that players will be able to play as them side-by-side.
This will be the second Assassin's Creed game to include co-op, following Ubisoft's previous attempt, Unity, which was criticized for its rough launch plagued by technical issues. While the four-player title was viewed positively after its flaws were addressed, its release harmed the franchise's reputation and sales, prompting a soft reboot of the series.
Last week, it was announced that Shadows would be delayed until February 2025 to allow developers to polish the game. Ubisoft confirmed that the delay was not due to the recent reveal of Sucker Punch's Ghost of Yotei, but rather the "softer than expected" launch of Star Wars Outlaws.
