Post-Apocalyptic Level Design: A Fusion of The Division 2 and The Last of Us 2 in Unreal Engine 5

The art of level design has come a long way in the world of video games, and Edgar Demenchyk's latest project is a testament to that fact. Edgar Demenchyk, a level designer based in Minsk, Belarus, has created a game-ready level on Unreal Engine 5 based on the game The Division 2 and The Last of Us 2.

The objective of the project was to combine the gameplay and level design of The Division 2 with the setting and atmosphere of TLOU 2. Edgar has done an impressive job of combining the two games' elements while adding his own unique touch to the project. Take a look below.

The level is set in a post-apocalyptic world where players explore different parts of Washington, D.C., surrounded by devastation and chaos. The world consists of several elements of environmental architecture and setting that help create an atmosphere of gloom and danger. The environment includes urban landscapes, abandoned buildings, and dangerous infestations that create an authentic world that players can explore and fight to survive.

One of the most striking features of this level is its lighting. Edgar has used Lumen exclusively to create a dynamic cycle of day and night that affects the lighting of the game world.

The logic of the level is assembled from fragments of past developments of projects. Edgar created LD and GD documentation, which demonstrates the objectives and mechanics of the level. This documentation helps to ensure that the level is cohesive and that players have a clear understanding of the game's objectives.
