Respawn Entertainment is a AAA video game development studio that aspires to create new hit games that leave a lasting impact for gamers worldwide. Our work includes the critically acclaimed multi-platform games Apex Legends and Titanfall franchise. We developed the Star Wars™ action-adventure game Jedi: Fallen Order and virtual reality game Medal of Honor: Above and Beyond, and we are continuing development for our live free-to-play game, Apex Legends.

We are looking for an experienced Writer to join our Apex Legends team.

Responsibilities:

Drafts prose and dialogue, working with editors to finalize seasonal dialogue and story content under time pressure.
Work collaboratively with the writing team to develops story ideas in step with the game’s vision.
Works collaboratively with other writers to complete multi-part narrative activations.
Collaboratively influences game, level, sound and art direction.

The Role also includes…

Writing and contributing to single season and multi-season story arcs.
Writing narrative pieces outside the main gameplay experience.
Attending recording sessions and ensures VO sessions deliver on character and context.
Helping plan, track, write, and organize conditional dialogue.
Finding innovative opportunities to tell story in our battle royale without disrupting gameplay flow.

Knowledge

Has previous professional experience as a writer, ideally for games.
Has a strong understanding of story and games.
Has a very strong understanding of character-led storytelling.
Baseline familiarity with Apex and Titanfall.

Teamwork

Collaborates closely with other writers, finding ways to build better story ideas together.
Can effectively gather and filter feedback, gauge player reactions, and iterate on story.
Collaborates closely with members of different disciplines to bring a story and/or character to life.
