The Xbox Game Studios Publishing team responsible for the recently released Microsoft Flight Simulator, Ori and the Will of the Wisps, and Tell Me Why is seeking a Principal Cloud Services Engineer. Principal Cloud Services Engineer
Our team is responsible for building and operating the services that power our games – whether they were released years ago or have yet to be announced. We’re looking for a Principal Cloud Services Engineer with experience in service development and cloud engineering. This candidate will have experience with all aspects of the DevOps life-cycle, including planning, developing, testing, deploying, and operating large-scale highly available web services.
Responsibilities
Design and develop custom web services for a variety of game features hosted in the cloud.
Develop and maintain libraries, templates, and documentation to help our partners build world-class web services.
Build and maintain infrastructure for cloud-hosted game services and websites.
Develop effective monitoring and alerting to achieve high up-time.
Troubleshoot and resolve service, website, and infrastructure failures.
Participate in 24x7 on-call rotation.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C#, Python, or Go
OR equivalent experience.
At least 6 years of experience with service development in ASP.NET Core.
At least 3 years of experience developing and operating containerized applications within Kubernetes.
At least 3 years of experience with a cloud computing environment (Azure or others).
Preferred Qualifications:
Operational experience with an observability stack.
Experience creating or contributing to Helm charts.
Experience with Terraform, Docker, or comparable IaC tools.
Experience with Prometheus and Grafana.
CI/CD pipeline development experience (Azure DevOps or others).
Experience with operating REST services.
Operational experience with both Linux and Windows.
Website development and/or operations experience, especially with PHP/WordPress/Apache.
Experience using the Kusto Query Language.
Experience contributing to Open Source projects.
Game development experience.
Software Engineering IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $133,600 - $256,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $173,200 - $282,200 per year.
