Join our New Games Studio and help build the next generation of King experiences. We’re developing Minecraft Blast, a new casual puzzle adventure set in a playful interpretation of the Minecraft universe and we’re looking for a talented System & Economy Designer to shape its economy, progression, and meta systems.
 

As a Senior System & Economy Designer, you will play a pivotal role in defining how players engage with the game over time. You will form the bridge between game design and our Data Scientists and Product Managers to help craft the systems, loops, and economies that drive retention, progression, and monetisation while ensuring the player experience feels fair, delightful, and distinctly Minecraft.

Your Role Within Our Kingdom

In this role, you will champion systems and economy design across the team collaborating closely with Creative Leadership and our Business Unit. 

You will:

  • Support the development of the holistic casual game economy, meta systems, and feature frameworks for Minecraft Blast.
  • Help in the building, balancing, and game economy modelling of our meta game to predict player behaviour and feature impact.
  • Alongside DS and PMs, use quantitative and qualitative insights to help tune progression, rewards, sinks, sources, pacing and difficulty curves.
  • Design new systems  including meta features, events, and monetisation mechanics  balancing retention, engagement, and revenue in a player centric, casual mobile appropriate way.
  • Partner with Art, Product, Data Science, Engineering, and other Designers to align features with the creative vision and business goals.
  • Perform regular market research and deconstruct competitor titles to identify opportunities and emerging trends in free to play puzzle games.
  • Communicate clearly with senior leaders, building alignment around proposals, models, decisions, and expected outcomes.
  • Contribute to King’s economy design community by sharing knowledge, reviewing peers’ work, and helping evolve our craft.

Skills to Create Thrills

  • Enthusiastic about casual mobile games, systems design, and the craft of game economies.
  • Proven experience building, tuning, and operating casual economies in mobile free to play games both in production and live operation.
  • Strong analytical skills with fluency in modelling tools, data-driven decision making, and player behaviour analysis.
  • Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and reconciling creative, technical, and business perspectives.
  • Strong planning and organisational skills, capable of driving strategic game economy initiatives to completion.
  • Clear and effective communicator — verbally, visually, and in written documentation.
  • Comfortable in a fast-moving, collaborative environment where responsibilities evolve as the game grows.
  • A team player who enjoys working closely with designers, analysts, and product partners from diverse backgrounds.
