Gearbox Software is looking for a Lead mission designer to work closely with the creative leadership and other departments to define and uphold the quality standards for the game’s missions and narrative content. You will lead the mission design team to ensure the creation of engaging, high-quality, and enjoyable content.
Responsibilities
Contribute to the design of missions, narrative arcs, and the ways in which players experience this content.
In collaboration with the creative leadership, you will oversee and guide a team of mission designers.
Plan and delegate tasks for team members in coordination with leadership and production teams.
Supervise and mentor the design team to ensure alignment with deadlines and the established creative direction.
Monitor team members’ well-being and progress.
Collaborate with other departments to ensure mission content is both feasible and meets quality expectations.
Promote innovation by understanding the competitive landscape and the project’s target audience.
Profile and Qualifications
10+ years of experience as a mission designer in the video game industry
Proven leadership experience.
Shipped at least one multiplatform title from pre-production to certification
Experience with Unreal 4 or 5
Experience in team management
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to tackle complex design challenges
Strong interpersonal skills
Enthusiastic, positive, and team-oriented mindset
