We are seeking an experienced VFX Artist whoΒ will play a key role in shaping the visual impact of our games by designing, implementing, and optimizing high-quality effects in Unreal Engine that enhance gameplay, clarity, and player experience.

Responsibilities

  • Create high-quality real-time VFX assets that align with the established art direction, technical constraints, and performance requirements.
  • Design, implement, and optimize VFX primarily using Unreal Engine (Niagara), ensuring smooth integration into game builds.
  • Take ownership of VFX tasks from early prototypes through final, polished delivery.
  • Collaborate closely with Art Directors, Artists, Game Designers, and Game Programmer throughout the production process.
  • Implement and integrate VFX into the game engine, including setup, testing, debugging, and performance optimization.
  • Research, prototype, and present new techniques, tools, and visual approaches to improve VFX quality and workflows.
  • Ensure VFX assets are correctly versioned, documented, and delivered on time; communicate progress clearly via task-tracking tools (e.g. Jira).
  • Playtest game builds regularly to validate visual clarity, readability, timing, and overall player experience.
  • Work proactively with upstream and downstream team members in the content pipeline to ensure smooth production flow.

About you:

  • Proven experience creating real-time VFX in Unreal Engine, with deep knowledge of Niagara.
  • Solid understanding of real-time VFX pipelines, engine limitations, and performance considerations for PC and console games.
  • Proficiency with particle systems, shaders, ribbons, lighting, physics-based effects, and post-processing.
  • Art fundamentals, including color theory, composition, motion, timing, and visual storytelling.
  • Ability to conceptualize and execute a wide range of effects: stylized, realistic, and fantastical (skills, weapons, tools, environments, atmospheric effects, UI, vehicles, creatures, motion graphics).
  • Experience with industry-standard DCC tools such as Photoshop; experience with 3D tools (e.g. 3ds Max, Blender, Maya) is a plus.
  • Experience capturing and working with in-game footage directly from engine builds.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot technical and visual issues independently.
  • Comfortable receiving feedback and iterating quickly in a collaborative production environment.
  • Organized, proactive, and able to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced setting.
  • Excellent communication skills and a professional, team-oriented mindset.
  • A passion for video games and real-time visual effects.
