Gameloft Bucharest is looking for a Senior Gameplay Programmer (C++ / Unreal Engine) to join one of our PC / console projects.

As a Senior Gameplay Programmer, you will play a key role in building and evolving core gameplay systems. You will work closely with Designers, Artists, and other Engineers to turn ideas into robust, performant, and scalable gameplay features. This is a hands-on role with real ownership, not just implementation.

Your main challenges will include:

  • Own the implementation of gameplay systems and features from concept to final integration.
  • Write clean, efficient, and maintainable C++ code using Unreal Engine best practices.
  • Work comfortably across C++ and Unreal Blueprints, defining clear boundaries between systems code and designer-facing logic.
  • Collaborate closely with Game Designers to shape features, challenge assumptions, and find the right technical solutions.
  • Integrate gameplay systems with animation, UI, AI, physics, and audio.
  • Contribute to technical design decisions and help define solid gameplay architectures.
  • Identify risks, performance issues, and technical debt early, and propose solutions.
  • Actively participate in code reviews and help raise the overall code quality of the team.
  • Support and mentor less experienced programmers through feedback and example.
  • Work with Production to estimate tasks, plan work realistically, and deliver predictably.

Your skill set:

  • Strong professional experience with C++, ideally in a gameplay context.
  • Solid hands-on experience with Unreal Engine using both C++ and Blueprints.
  • At least one shipped game or equivalent experience on a complex interactive product.
  • Good understanding of gameplay systems, real-time architectures, and performance constraints.
  • Comfortable working in a multidisciplinary team and discussing trade-offs openly.
  • Ability to debug complex issues and reason about system-level interactions.
  • Clear communication skills in English, both written and spoken.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with Unreal subsystems such as AI, Animation, Physics, UI (UMG), or Multiplayer.
  • Experience working on PC and console titles.
  • Interest in improving workflows, tools, or pipelines.
  • Previous mentoring or technical leadership experience.
