The EA SPORTS American Football (AFB) team is looking for a Design Director who is inspired by sport and culture to help us build the next evolution of our marketing campaigns. We want someone who loves football just as much as they love building amazing work.

This is a collaborative team, so it’s important to be curious, and not afraid to ask questions, while focusing on output. In this dream role you’ll work across multiple creative campaigns for EA SPORTS American Football projects, including Madden and College Football.

You will play an instrumental role in the following:

  • Develop the core creative design system alongside team members.

  • Develop end-to-end design concepts and implementations, across the AFB ecosystem.

  • Partner with teams to uphold our visual look & feel and across several brand and product level campaigns under the guidance of AFB’s creative and senior leadership.

  • Work alongside internal strategy and marketing team members to develop treatments and creative responses that inspire our best ideas and execution.

  • Collaborate with our production teams to craft designs.

This role, in partnership with external agencies and internal designers, will concept and implement the go-to-market design systems for both Madden and College football. You will manage and uphold a high-quality bar for all content produced that uses our design system. You will create excellence in design from start to finish alongside internal and external production partners. You will report directly to the Group Creative Director of EA SPORTS, within EA SPORTS & Entertainment Creative team.

Responsibilities:

  • Shape the development of EAS AFB brand identity across all player touchpoints.

  • Create world-class integrated brand design systems for the EAS AFB franchise from the ground up. Design systems include brand images (key art), logos, typography, color, graphic elements, iconography, and motion-based solutions.

  • Partner with studio teams to integrate design strategy and brand design as an important discipline to ensure a cohesive brand experience across in-game (product) and out-of-game (marketing, live services, and beyond).

  • Oversee and help complete all marketing campaigns and live services content from a brand design POV including digital, motion, experiential, film, retail, social, environmental, and print.

  • Present work and build trust with senior partners across multiple teams.

  • Inspire, lead, and direct internal designers and oversee the daily work.

  • Brief and direct our external agencies and vendors, keeping large-scale projects on track.

  • Create the EAS FC brand style guide, brief internal and external partner teams on these rules, and ensure consistency and quality benchmarks are met in execution.

  • Interpret creative feedback and data into iterative design, as part of a multi-revision process

  • Partner with others in the broader creative organization in pushing EAS FC’s creative expression to new levels of excellence.

Requirement:

  • 6+ years of branding experience as a creative director or design director at a brand or design agency (at least three years of leadership experience managing multiple designers).

  • Excellent understanding of the comprehensive strategic brand design process, design trends, and best practices.

  • Excellent branding/design track record—Experience creating for global brands in digital, print, experiential, and environmental channels with experience creating design systems.

  • Will provide clear direction to design teams and to sell through concepts and projects both visually and verbally to individuals at all levels of the company.

  • Work across multiple brand equities and hierarchies and understand how they’re interconnected.

  • Excellent hands-on design, typography, and layout skills.

  • Experience with game UI design, 3D, motion design, and photoshoot direction are a huge plus.

  • Advanced skills in Adobe Creative Cloud.

  • You love football: the game, the culture, the athletes, and the stories that surround this incredible and dynamic sport.

Education

  • BS/BFA in Graphic Design or Design Direction. Additional experience in related fields.

US COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

The base salary ranges listed below are for the defined geographic market pay zones in these states. If you reside outside of these locations, a recruiter will advise on the base salary range and benefits for your specific location. EA has listed the base salary ranges it in good faith expects to pay applicants for this role in the locations listed, as of the time of this posting. Salary offered will be determined based on numerous relevant business and candidate factors including, for example, education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, and business or organizational needs.

BASE SALARY RANGES

  • California (depending on location e.g. Los Angeles vs. Sacramento): º $113,300 - $171,700 USD Annually

  • New York (depending on location e.g. Manhattan vs. Buffalo): º $111,500 - $171,700 USD Annually

  • Jersey City, NJ : º $126,700 - $171,700 USD Annually

  • Colorado (depending on location e.g. Denver vs. Colorado Springs): º $111,500 - $144,000 USD Annually

  • Washington (depending on location e.g. Seattle vs. Spokane): º $111,500 - $157,300 USD Annually

Base salary is just one part of the overall compensation at EA. We also offer a package of benefits including paid time off (3 weeks per year to start), 80 hours per year of sick time, 16 paid company holidays per year, 10 weeks paid time off to bond with baby, medical/dental/vision insurance, life insurance, disability insurance, and 401(k) to regular full-time employees. Certain roles may also be eligible for bonus and equity.
