We are seeking an Associate Game Designer to join us and help continue delivering a long running and beloved IP to our players, Plants vs Zombies! This designer will report to the Associate Game Design Director who oversees the Game Design team on an upcoming Plants vs Zombies mobile title. You will work directly with other game designers to create, tune, balance, and deliver a multitude of exciting levels and gameplay content to millions of players. The ideal candidate has experience designing for mobile games with a focus on gameplay and the moment-to-moment player experience, and a love of Plants vs Zombies!

We welcome full-time remote candidates who are within Canada to apply. You will be fully remote with the option of hybrid work if located near an Electronic Arts office.

Responsibilities

  • Independently design, balance, and implement levels for an upcoming Plants vs Zombies title using proprietary software

  • Work with senior level designers to ensure your levels are fun, varied, and interesting for both casual and experienced players

  • Advocate for new tools and process improvements to support the development and delivery of live content

  • Perform analysis of live content level updates to ensure level design target KPIs are being met, as well as identify potential problems and/or opportunities

  • Keep the player in mind using feedback, playtesting, and telemetry to refine your level and mechanic designs

Qualifications

  • 1+ years of experience as a game designer, working with current engines and tools to create gameplay content such as levels and mechanics

  • 1+ years of experience supporting a live service content cadence, preferably within a mobile title

  • Proven experience in game design, preferably in the mobile or free-to-play space, and specifically in the puzzle, tower defense, or related genres

  • Strong analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data, draw insights, and make data-informed decisions

  • A solid understanding of game mechanics, player psychology, and the free-to-play gaming market

  • Knowledge of tower defense gameplay, particularly the Plants vs. Zombies franchise

  • A portfolio showcasing your design skills, including examples of your previous game design work

BC COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

The base salary ranges listed below are for the defined geographic market pay zones in these locations. If you reside outside of these locations, a recruiter will advise on the base salary range and benefits for your specific location. Salary offered will be determined based on numerous relevant business and candidate factors including, for example, education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, and business or organizational needs.

HOURLY PAY RANGES

  • British Columbia (depending on location e.g. Vancouver vs. Victoria):ΒΊ $54,900 - $84,750 CAN Annually

Base salary is just one part of the overall compensation at EA. We also offer a package of benefits including vacation (3 weeks per year to start), 10 days per year of sick time, and after 3 months of service - extended health/dental/vision coverage and basic life insurance.
