As a Senior UI Artist you will help drive the visual design, creation and implementation of the user interfaces for Blizzard’s next great game. You will help define and build upon the project’s UI visual identity and design language, ensuring a consistent, high-quality player experience across both core gameplay and meta.
You will have the opportunity to be a key contributor within an exciting art team, shaping UI features from concept through implementation and polish. ResponsibilitiesÂ
- Work closely with the Lead UI Artist to help define, evolve and uphold the UI art style, visual presentation, and quality benchmarks for UI Art on the project.
- Create and implement appealing, user-friendly, innovative, and crisp user interfaces (e.g. menus, buttons, icons, frames, pop-ups, transitions and animation, etc.) in accordance to the style, with a strong focus on usability, readability, and mobile best practices.
- Create sketches, concepts, mock-ups, motion previews, storyboards, and finished artwork that clearly communicate ideas and support production through implementation.
- Apply and maintain a consistent look and feel across the game’s UI, ensuring visual accuracy and alignment with the project’s artistic direction, gameplay needs, and player experience goals.
- Deliver Art to the required levels of quality, workflow efficiency and content scalability, while helping drive polish and visual consistency to a high-quality final state.
- Work together with the team throughout the design process, giving and receiving actionable feedback, and iterating at the appropriate levels to solve problems and elevate the final result.
- Collaborate closely with UI artists, UX designers, technical artists, engineers, and 2D/3D artists to bring features from concept to polished implementation.
Minimum Requirements :
- 5+ years of experience crafting high-quality UI elements and implementing them efficiently into games or related entertainment products.
- Experience in understanding what creates a great user experience and how to deliver on the needs of the game platform across a variety of UI surfaces.
- Strong visual and graphic design skills, with a high bar for polish, readability and consistency.
- Awareness of current trends in user interface art for desktop and mobile games.
- Skilled in clear communication within a dynamic, cross-discipline, and fast-iterative workspace.
- Experience developing and maintaining UI/UX wireframes and flows with Figma, or other prototyping tools
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong understanding of the fundamental principles of graphic design, including color, composition, information hierarchy and typography.
- Strong skills in the creation of game UI content, including buttons, menus, pop-ups, HUD elements, icons, frames and other decorative interface assets.
- Strong understanding of motion and how it is used to enhance UI, communicate clearly and support a polished player experience.
- Knowledgeable in the technical aspects of creating in-game UI, covering the full end-to-end pipeline, and adept at implementing art into a game efficiently, with a focus on clean, structured, and optimized processes.
- Knowledge of industry standard software for the creation of UI art and any industry relevant game engine where it can be implemented into game.
- Experience using interface design tools such as Figma or similar.
- Strong understanding of fundamental User Experience (UX) Design principles and how to translate them into visually compelling, production-ready UI.
- Ability to understand and build upon an established visual identity and design language while maintaining consistency across a product.
