Pull up a chair and join us! Blizzard Entertainment is seeking a talented and enthusiastic Lead Software Engineer – Game Systems to join an unannounced project. The ideal candidate will have a passion for making video games while managing a large engineering team responsible for all game engineering including gameplay, pipeline, and various in-game features.

This role is anticipated to be a hybrid work position, with some work on-site and some work-from-home. The home studio for this role is Irvine, CA.

Responsibilities

In our fast-paced environment, priorities can often change. Therefore, this role includes, but is not limited to, the following responsibilities:

  • Manage a large team of talented game systems engineers and develop their skills to the next level.

  • Help the team to deliver key milestones for gameplay and critical in-game features on time.

  • Collaborate with a team of senior engineers, incorporating their relevant expertise into day-today operations and tasks..

  • Partner with other disciplines to establish clear technical requirements and deliverables required.

  • Manage the team’s day-to-day operations, including identifying and clearing blocks in their productivity.

  • Review technical designs, provide code reviews, and give guidance to junior members of the engineering team.

  • Frequently proved updates on the team’s progress and signal risks early to production leadership.

Minimum Requirements

  • Previous experience in managing high-performing, large engineering teams.

  • Substantial expertise in the field of professional game development, especially gameplay engineering and in-game feature development with client-server gameplay engineering.

  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.

  • Strong skills with Unity engine and C#.

  • Knowledgeable in game development pipelines.

  • Proven track record for managing a team through all phases of game development to launch.

In the U.S., the standard base pay range for this role is $121,500.00 - $224,880.00 Annual. These values reflect the expected base pay range of new hires across all U.S. locations. Ultimately, your specific range and offer will be based on several factors, including relevant experience, performance, and work location. Your Talent Professional can share this role’s range details for your local geography during the hiring process. In addition to a competitive base pay, employees in this role may be eligible for incentive compensation. Incentive compensation is not guaranteed. While we strive to provide competitive offers to successful candidates, new hire compensation is negotiable.
