PS5 players will be able to directly join Discord voice chats soon
Sony has announced that it is adding the ability for players to directly join Discord voice channels from their PS5 rather than using its desktop or mobile apps.
The details:
Last year, Sony added Discord integration to the PS5, but players had to join a voice chat through the mobile app or on desktop before transferring the call to their console, making the process longer than other platforms.
With the upcoming update, the Discord tab will be available in the PS5 Control Center, allowing players to directly access a server or DM group, as well as their respective voice channels. Players will also receive notifications when others attempt to call them, which can be used to join the chat.
The update will be released soon, starting with Japan and the rest of Asia, before rolling out to Europe, Australia, New Zealand, and the Middle East, and finally the Americas.
Another new feature also being added is the ability to quickly share a PlayStation Network account with others via a shareable link or QR code generated on a PS5 console or with the PlayStation app.
