Overwatch 2's heroes will be available for all immediately starting next season
Blizzard has announced that new heroes, as well as characters from previous seasons, will no longer be locked behind a battle pass, as in the original game.
The details:
In a new developer update, game director Aaron Keller announced that beginning with the release of Season 10, new hero Venture will be available to all players at launch. This change will also affect past heroes, who were previously unlocked through the game's battle pass.
Mythic skins, which were previously only available in seasonal battle passes, can now be purchased through the new Mythic Shop. The shop will allow players to unlock specific variations of the current Mythic skin as they progress through the battle pass, but those who want to unlock older skins can also do so.
Overwatch 2's progression systems have been heavily criticized by fans since its release, with Blizzard rolling back many of the changes in favor of those similar to the original game. This included the return of in-game credits for unlocking skins after OW2 abandoned the lootbox system in favor of coins.
