Dragon's Dogma 2 runs at an average of 30 FPS on consoles
Capcom's upcoming sequel to the fan-favorite Dragon's Dogma will have an average uncapped frame rate of 30 FPS, with no option to switch between a quality and performance mode.
The details:
In an interview with the Reno Gazette Journal, game director Hideaki Itsuno confirmed that the game would have an uncapped frame rate, with a target of around or above 30 FPS on the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. There will be no option for a 60 FPS mode, and Itsuno stated that hardware will have a significant impact on overall PC performance.
IGN’s Destin Legarie noted the frame rate in his first impressions article, writing that the game averaged around 31 FPS but would drop during the more intense, action-packed moments at 4K on the PS5. It was also spotted that the uncapped frame rate is locked, with no option to limit it to a maximum of 30 FPS.
Although previews show that the game looks great visually, fans appear to be disappointed with the performance, pointing out that other titles such as Horizon: Forbidden West and Final Fantasy VII Rebirth can achieve 60 FPS at lower resolutions and a solid 30 FPS at 4K.
