Dragon Age: The Veilguard will feature 140,000 lines of dialogue, creative director confirms
BioWare has confirmed that Dragon Age: The Veilguard will have over 50,000 more lines of dialogue than its predecessor, totaling 140,000 lines spread across 700 characters.
The details:
When asked why games take so long to make, creative director John Epler revealed to GamesRadar that the game will most likely have the most dialogue of any BioWare title yet. "It takes a long time to record 700 characters, you know - 80,000 lines or 140,000 lines with all the Rooks," Epler said. "It just takes time to make good." This is a significant jump from the previous entry, Dragon Age: Inquisition, which featured 88,000 lines of dialogue.
The developer added that casting for The Veilguard began five years ago, and the talent is still considered part of the development team. The protagonist, Rook, will also have four voice options, similar to Inquisition, with Baldur's Gate 3 actor Alex Jordan confirmed to provide one of them.
BioWare announced the rest of the cast last week, which includes both new and returning actors from previous games. This includes Ike Amadi, who voiced Javik in Mass Effect 3, and Ali Hillis, who voiced Liara throughout the Mass Effect trilogy and Lightning in Final Fantasy XIII.
