Ubisoft has confirmed that Assassin's Creed Codename Red, set in feudal Japan, will be released by the end of March 2025.

The details:

  • During its Q3 financial report, the publisher announced that Codename Red will arrive during the next fiscal year, which begins in April, with Star Wars Outlaws set to be released by the end of 2024. “Moving forward, we’re gearing up for a very promising line-up for fiscal year 2025,” CEO Yves Guillemot said, “including the upcoming release of Star Wars Outlaws in 2024, which should be a major milestone in the video game industry, especially given the undeniable appeal of this legendary franchise that will be coming for the first time to the Open World territory, as well as Assassin’s Creed Codename Red, set in the long-awaited feudal Japan universe.”

  • Codename Red was announced in 2022 as one of six Assassin's Creed projects in development. It is currently being developed by AC: Odyssey studio Ubisoft Quebec, with Jonathan Dumont, Odyssey's creative director, returning.

  • So far, we know that the game is set in feudal Japan and features two playable characters: a shinobi and a samurai. It is expected that both will have distinct playstyles, with the title focusing on stealth while maintaining the action RPG style of the studio's previous AC releases.
