ZeniMax Online Studios is looking for a Gameplay Technical Architect to lead a team of Engineers and develop systems in our new engine for the studio’s next AAA project.

The preferred location for this role is Hunt Valley, MD, Austin, TX, San Diego, CA, or Madison, WI. Will consider remote.

Responsibilities

  • Design and architect gameplay systems

  • Continuously refine and optimize systems within the project's development cycle

  • Collaborate with project leadership and game teams to make sure their needs are being met

  • Identify and mitigate technical risks and challenges, proposing effective solutions to ensure project success

  • Establish and enforce coding standards, best practices, and development guidelines to maintain code quality and consistency across the project

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of software development experience, demonstrating deep expertise in the field

  • Excellent programming skills and extensive experience in C++

  • Solid architecture, system design, and analytical skills

  • Experience with multi-threaded programming

  • Code to clearly defined performance and memory usage specs

  • Effective communication skills, enabling clear and efficient collaboration with team members and stakeholders

  • Prior experience with developing proprietary technology while working in close collaboration with other engineers and designers

Preferred Skills

  • Experience developing for multiple platforms (Windows, Xbox, etc)

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience

  • Knowledge of Modern C++ Standards

  • Strong math skills related to development of gameplay systems (Linear Algebra, Vector Math, Probability)

  • Experience with network game client/server architecture

Salary Range

Gameplay Technical Architect - The typical base pay range for this position at the start of employment is expected to be between $150,000 - $265,000 per year.

ZeniMax has different base pay ranges for different work locations within the United States, which allows us to pay employees competitively and consistently in different geographic markets. The range above reflects the potential base pay across the U.S. for this role; the applicable base pay range will depend on what ultimately is determined to be the candidate’s primary work location. Individual base pay depends on various factors, in addition to primary work location, such as complexity and responsibility of role, job duties/requirements, and relevant experience and skills. Base pay ranges are reviewed and typically updated each year. Offers are made within the base pay range applicable at the time.
