This is a fully remote, full-time, contractor position. We're VOID Interactive, the kick-ass team behind the best-selling FPS game, Ready or Not. We're made up of some seriously talented individuals who love games and creating awesome content together. Weโre seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Technical Artist to join us remotely and help us elevate Ready or Not to new heights. Our goal is strong: to establish Ready or Not as the quintessential FPS of our time.
As a Technical Artist, you'll be the creative force driving the seamless integration of art and technology in our game development process. Collaborating closely with developers, artists, and project managers, you'll pioneer the technical solutions that bring our worlds to vivid, dynamic life. Your expertise will empower our team to push boundaries in visual fidelity and interactive design, ensuring an immersive experience that captivates players and sets new standards in gaming innovation. In this role, you'll be in charge of:
Creating and maintaining efficient workflows and tools, ensuring seamless integration of assets into the game engine.
Developing shaders and materials to achieve visual effects, optimising rendering performance, and maintaining artistic consistency.
Collaborating with artists and programmers to optimise assets (environments, characters, VFX, etc.) for performance while preserving visual quality.
Solve complex technical challenges related to art production, including rigging, animation, lighting, and VFX.
Design and implement custom tools and scripts to streamline repetitive tasks and improve the efficiency of the production pipeline.
Work closely with the Lead Technical Artist, animators, artists, designers, and programmers to understand their requirements and provide technical guidance and support throughout the development cycle.
Conduct thorough testing and debugging of features to ensure they meet performance, quality, and functionality standards.
Document technical processes, best practices, and tools developed.
Hereโs what you'll be bringing to the team:
Worked on at least one shipped game project, for a full production cycle in technical art or a related role.
Strong understanding of 3D graphics principles, rendering techniques, and experience with game engines such as Unity or Unreal Engine.
Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, C#, or similar, and experience with tool development in a game development context.
Ability to work closely with artists and designers to understand their creative vision and translate it into efficient technical solutions.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to diagnose and resolve technical issues related to art assets and workflows.
Excellent interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including artists, designers, and programmers.
Meticulous attention to detail to ensure visual fidelity and performance optimisation across different hardware configurations.
Willingness to learn and adapt to new tools, technologies, and techniques in a rapidly evolving industry.
Comfortable working in a remote, fast-paced, dynamic environment.
