Job Description

We are looking for a Senior Build Systems Engineer to join our team to develop and maintain automation, build, and deployment pipelines on video game development projects. Our ideal candidate will be a proactive and strategic thinker with a passion for leading technical solutions for the team.

Daily Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain build pipelines and automation processes using industry-standard tools

  • Build infrastructure for deployment of live servers and internal developer tools

  • Identify and address bottlenecks in the build process to optimize performance and ensure timely delivery of builds

  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to build systems and automation pipelines

  • Develop scripts and tools to automate common build tasks

  • Ensure build processes are well-documented and accessible to the development team

  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices for build systems and automation

  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members

  • Take a leadership role in driving the evolution of our build systems and automation processes, and identifying areas for improvement

  • Work on a wide range of projects with varying requirements, and identify solutions that are efficient, effective and scalable

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience

  • At least 5 years of experience in a build systems or automation role, preferably in the video game industry

  • Strong programming skills in Python, Groovy, C#, and other relevant languages

  • Experience with continuous integration and deployment tools such as TeamCity, Jenkins, and GitLab CI

  • Familiarity with DevOps principles and practices

  • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively

  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, and ability to work with multifunctional teams

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with mobile devices and operating systems

  • Experience with version control systems such as Git or Perforce

  • Experience using Docker and Kubernetes.

  • Experience with time-series metric database, logging and analytics tools, such as Loggly, Grafana

  • Experience with Linux system administration

  • Experience using DevOps practices using Terraform, Packer and Ansible

At SIE, we consider several factors when setting each role’s base pay range, including the competitive benchmarking data for the market and geographic location. Please note that the base pay range may vary in line with our hybrid working policy and individual base pay will be determined based on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this role is eligible for SIE’s top-tier benefits package that includes medical, dental, vision, matching 401(k), paid time off, wellness program and coveted employee discounts for Sony products. The estimated base pay range for this role is listed below.

$139,400—$209,000 USD
